JUSTiN was diagnosed with Stage 3 Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma on November 1, 2017 (12 cm tumor found behind his bladder). He was just 15 months old at the time of diagnosis.  He immediately began a 43-week treatment plan at INOVA Children's Hospital, which included several cycles of chemo and 28 rounds of proton therapy radiation in Baltimore. He handled treatment like a true warrior and had an overall great response. It came as a complete shock to us all (doctors included) when he relapsed right at the end of treatment in September 2018.  

Despite the pain and thru the tears, JUSTiN always found a way to smile.  His will to live was extraordinary- he was referred to as “superhuman” by the medical team, as no one had witnessed a child his size on such high levels of pain meds.  JUSTiN's battle ended on February 5, 2019. He was 2 1/2 years old. His tumor was donated with the hope of bringing us closer to ending the nightmare of childhood cancer.   

To know Justin was to love him. He gave his time and heart to anyone who cared to spend a few minutes with him. He found joy in ALL things. He knew how to live and love.  He connected deeply with music.  He adored his big sister Kacey.  And he NEVER, EVER let cancer steal his spirit. Justin (our J bug) was and will always be our BRAVE LITTLE SOUL.
